Good Over Night Stop on the way to Race Start in Denver
Greetings racers:
Are you looking for an overnight stop on your way to Denver? If so, you may want to check out The Alexis Park Inn & Suites, which is adjacent to the Iowa City Municipal Airport (IOW). The suites are each decorated with memorabilia from different eras of flying, including an Amelia Earhart Suite.

Jay & Mary Honeck, are both avid pilots and promote aviation in many different ways locally and beyond. They would be thrilled to have some racers at the Inn in June. You might enjoy spending some time in the Jack Knight meeting room and playing on The Kiwi – a big screen full flight simulator. Hey, you can even practice your approach to Centennial or any other stop on our route.
Let me know if you’ll be stopping in Iowa, and I’ll make sure that you find a good place for dinner while in town. Heck, I bet Jay and Mary would let me host a BBQ & pool party at The Inn. It would be a good warm-up for their big pool party that they host for folks from across the US flying to Oshkosh.
Linda Moody, my co-pilot, will be arriving Thursday evening, and we’ll be flying to Denver on Friday. It might be fun to organize a small fly-out to Denver.
Thanks,
Minnetta Gardinier
